Celebrating 30 years!
In 1996, Petworth and District Community Association was born to ‘Create the best for the people of Petworth and District’. A lot of work was put into creating a supportive community for the whole of Petworth and the surrounding areas.
In 2006, after the Kite Festival was no longer viable, one of the founding members of the P&DCA, brought up the idea of running a Fete again.
Some of you may be aware that there is a painting of the ‘Fete in the Park’ in Petworth house this was painted in 1835 by William Frederick Witherington so the ideal place for it to take place, was in front of Petworth House.
With the support of The Leconfield Estates, and of course the National Trust, the Fete in the Park was reinstated and has evolved into the event we enjoy today, nearly 20 years on. Although we still have and very much appreciate the support of The Leconfield Estates and the National Trust, it is solely organised by the Petworth Community Organisation.
Join us as we celebrate 20 years of Fete in the Park with a fantastic afternoon of entertainment, activities, food, drink and family fun in the beautiful surroundings of Petworth Park.
The official programme is now available, along with the latest event information, timings and updates.
The fete runs from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, followed by a free evening concert from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

In 2010, it was decided it was time to introduce the Hampers Green Petworth Bonfire and Fireworks. This has quickly become a very popular event and indeed, one of the highlights of the Petworth calendar. Bringing this event to Hampers Green — again with the support of the Leconfield Estate and laterly the National Trust — has been a lovely way of keeping the town cohesion with Hampers Green.
Petworth Hampers Green Bonfire & Fireworks is a free event organised by the Petworth Community Association. We are grateful to all those who support this community event.
In 2025, it was decided to change the name of the Charity to Petworth Community Association when the charity’s constitution was brought up to the modern day requirements.
The PCA has been supported throughout the years by a huge number of volunteers, some trustees, and lots of supporters — none of which we could do without. Janet Duncton, John Riddell and Tony Sneller were stalwart founding members who have supported the charity up to this day.
Our current trustees are:
Vikki Wood (Chair), Tessa Duncton (Treasurer), Jackie Smith (Secretary), Amy Watkins (Secretary), Lewis Parr, Ollie Gould and Tricia Stephens.
If you would like to come and join us to help keep us going, please email us. We always need sponsorship and funding to keep these events going, so if you can help with either of these, please get in touch.
These events are run entirely by Trustees and other volunteers – we always need assistance so if you wish to be a part of the planning team or provide practical help with preparation and stewarding then please get in touch!
